To publish a website you made with AI, start with what you have. Code pasted from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini goes in a file named index.html, which you drag onto a free static host such as Netlify, Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages. A site made in an AI builder like Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Replit has a Publish button. A project folder from a coding agent gets built, then uploaded.
Every path has a free option. Your own domain is the part you pay for, and some builders connect one only on a paid plan. Below: each path step by step, and the checks to run before you share the link.
- Pasted HTML from a chat: save it as
index.html, check it on your computer, then drag the folder onto a free static host. - In a builder such as Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Replit: press Publish. Connecting your own domain needs a paid plan on some of them.
- A folder from a coding agent: ask for a production build, then upload the output folder or deploy it from the terminal.
- ChatGPT Sites, Claude’s Publish button and Gemini’s share links get a page online fast. Of the three, only ChatGPT Sites takes your own domain.
- Before you share the link, search the files for API keys, test every form, and add a privacy note if you collect anything.
Where did your site come from?
The right way to publish depends on what the AI gave you. Find your row, then jump to its section.
| What you have | Fastest free way online | Your own domain |
|---|---|---|
| Code pasted into a chat (one HTML file, maybe a CSS or JS file) | Save it as index.html and drag the folder onto a static host | Free to connect on Netlify, Cloudflare Pages and GitHub Pages; you pay only for the domain |
| A share link inside ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini | Publish or share from the chat app itself | Only ChatGPT Sites connects a domain you own |
| A project in Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Replit | The builder’s Publish button | Depends on the builder and plan (table below) |
| A project folder from a coding agent | Build it, then upload the output folder or deploy from the terminal | Same as the first row, for static sites |
If your project needs a server or a database, a static host is not enough. Our guide on where to deploy your app sorts hosts by what your app needs to run.
ChatGPT gave me HTML. How do I put it online?
Save the code as a file named index.html, check that it opens in your browser, then drag its folder onto a free static host. A static host is a service that sends your files to visitors exactly as they are, with no server code of your own.
Save the code as index.html
Copy the whole code block, from
<!doctype html>to</html>. Paste it into a plain-text editor (Notepad, TextEdit in plain-text mode, or VS Code) and save it asindex.htmlin a new, empty folder. If the chat also gave you a CSS or JavaScript file, save it in the same folder under the exact name the HTML uses.Check it on your computer
Double-click
index.htmlto open it in your browser. If parts load other files and stay blank, serve the folder instead, which behaves more like a real host. With Python installed, run this in the folder:Terminal python3 -m http.server 8000Output (our test run, Python 3.14) Serving HTTP on :: port 8000 (http://[::]:8000/) ...Then open
http://localhost:8000. In our test, a single-page site served this way returned the page with status 200, and a missingabout.htmlreturned 404, which is exactly how a live host behaves. Press Ctrl+C to stop.Upload the folder to a free host
Pick one of the three hosts in the table below. Netlify Drop is the only one that works without signing up first.
Open the live address on your phone
Tap every link and button on the real address before anyone else does. Small screens break layouts that looked fine on a laptop.
Checked on September 28, 2026, in each host’s documentation:
| Host | How you upload | Account | Free address | Catch | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Drag the folder onto app.netlify.com/drop | Not needed to upload | A Netlify address | Without an account, the link is protected by a temporary password until you sign up and claim it | Netlify docs |
| Cloudflare Pages | Workers & Pages, then Create application, then drag and drop your files | Free account | name.pages.dev | Drag and drop takes up to 1,000 files, 25 MiB each, and a drag-and-drop project cannot switch to Git later | Cloudflare docs |
| GitHub Pages | Upload to a repository, then Settings, Pages, Deploy from a branch | Free account | username.github.io | Free for public repositories; changes take up to 10 minutes to appear | GitHub docs |
All three let you connect your own domain for free. Before you launch anything commercial, read the free plan’s fine print, which where to deploy your app compares host by host.
Can I publish straight from ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?
Yes, but you get different things. ChatGPT Sites publishes a real website that can use your own domain, while Claude and Gemini give you a public link to a page or app that stays on their domain.
Checked on September 28, 2026:
| Tool | What you get | Availability | Your own domain | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Sites | A published site with its own URL, shared publicly, with your workspace, or with invited people | Public beta for ChatGPT workspaces, Plus and Pro accounts. Not on Free or Go | Yes, if you already own one; Sites does not sell domains | OpenAI Help Center |
| Claude artifacts | Publish gives a public link. Anyone with it can view and use the artifact without a Claude account | Free, Pro and Max. Team and Enterprise get a share link instead | Not offered in Anthropic’s help article | Anthropic Help Center |
| Gemini Canvas | Share & export, then Share, gives a public g.co/gemini/share link that anyone can open | Plans are not listed in the help article | Not offered in Google’s help article | Gemini Apps Help |
| Google AI Studio (Build mode) | Deploy to Cloud Run, export a ZIP, or push to GitHub | Cloud Run pricing may apply once deployed | Not covered in the Build mode docs | Google AI for Developers |
In Claude, unpublishing is final: Anthropic says you cannot publish the same artifact again. If you export an AI Studio app, Google says you must set your GEMINI_API_KEY in the new host. Keep that key on a server, because anything built into browser code is public, as our guide to keeping API keys safe explains.
A share link is fine for showing a friend. For a site with your own name on it, copy the code out and follow the steps above, or see our ChatGPT Sites alternatives if Sites is not available to you.
I built it in Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Replit. How do I publish it?
Press the builder’s Publish button. Each one hosts the site for you on an address on its own domain, and each connects your own domain from its publish or project settings.
Checked on September 28, 2026:
| Builder | Publish puts it at | Free-plan catch | Your own domain | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lovable | your-app.lovable.app | Publishing is free, but hosting and the built-in backend use credits as people use the app | Paid plans only; you can also buy a domain inside Lovable | Lovable docs |
| Bolt | your-site.bolt.host | 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month across your account, plus a “Made in Bolt” badge | Paid plans; connect one you own or buy one through Bolt | Bolt support |
| v0 | A vercel.app address in a Vercel project | Vercel’s free Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial use only | Add it under Publish, then Customize Domain; you finish setup in Vercel | v0 docs |
| Replit | your-app.replit.app | Starter includes one published app, which goes down after 30 days (you can republish); more need Core or Pro | Add it in the Publishing settings | Replit docs |
Lovable and Replit put a security check in their publish flow, and Bolt offers one in its Publish menu on paid plans. Read the results rather than clicking past them, since a builder app with a database can expose its data if the access rules are wrong. Our guide to Supabase row level security explains the most common case.
Moving to another host later depends on whether the builder lets you take the code, which our guide on exporting your site from AI builders checks for each one.
I have a project folder from a coding agent. What now?
Ask the agent for a production build, then publish the folder it creates. For most sites that folder is called dist, build or out, and it holds plain files you can drag onto any host from the table above.
You can also deploy from the terminal. Cloudflare’s command takes the folder and a project name (we checked it against the help output of Wrangler 4.125.0):
npx wrangler pages deploy dist --project-name my-siteNetlify’s equivalent is netlify deploy --prod. Both ask you to log in the first time, so run them yourself or let your agent run them while you watch.
Some tools publish as part of the build. ChatGPT Sites can be created from Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app. Cyborb, a desktop AI agent from Orbioom, is our product: its /publish skill puts a finished site on a cyborb.app address with hosting included. Its Free plan covers 3 published sites, and custom domains need Pro.
If the folder contains server code, such as API routes or a database connection, a static host cannot run it. Ask the agent which kind of hosting it needs before you pick one.
How do I put it on my own domain?
Buy the domain from a registrar, add it in your host’s domain settings, then create the DNS records the host shows you. Most changes take effect within minutes to a few hours, and the host issues the HTTPS certificate once the records point at it.
Two quirks are worth knowing. Cloudflare Pages needs your domain’s DNS on Cloudflare for a bare domain like example.com, though a subdomain like www.example.com can point there with a CNAME record from any DNS provider. And ChatGPT Sites connects a domain you already own but does not sell one, while Lovable, Bolt and Replit can sell you one inside the builder.
Our step-by-step guide to connecting a custom domain explains every record type, and how to put a website online covers what a domain really costs.
What should I check before I share the link?
Check four things AI-made sites often get wrong: exposed API keys, forms that go nowhere, missing privacy notes and invented content. Each takes a few minutes, and each is harder to fix once people are using the site.
Start with keys. A key pasted into a page is readable by every visitor. Search the folder you are about to publish:
grep -rnoE "sk-[A-Za-z0-9_-]{20,}|sk_live_[A-Za-z0-9]+|AIza[0-9A-Za-z_-]{35}|ghp_[A-Za-z0-9]{36}" my-sitemy-site/index.html:15:sk-proj-EXAMPLEEXAMPLEEXAMPLE1234
my-site/app.js:1:AIzaSyEXAMPLEexampleEXAMPLEexample12345The pattern catches common OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Google and GitHub key formats. On a clean folder it prints nothing. If it finds a key, move the call behind a server, then replace the key, because a published key counts as leaked.
For the content itself, our guide to building a website with AI shows how to replace everything the AI made up before launch.
FAQ
Is there a free way to publish a website made with AI?
Yes. Netlify, Cloudflare Pages and GitHub Pages all host a static site for free, and Lovable, Bolt and Replit publish to their own addresses on free plans with limits. You pay for a domain only if you want your own name on the site.
Can I publish a ChatGPT website without a paid plan?
Not with ChatGPT Sites. As of September 2026 it is in public beta on Plus, Pro and workspace plans, and not on Free or Go. You can still copy the code ChatGPT writes into an index.html file and publish it free on any static host.
How do I put a Google AI Studio app on my own domain?
AI Studio can deploy the app to Google Cloud Run, or export it as a ZIP or to GitHub. Google’s Build mode docs do not cover custom domains. The exported code can go to any host that supports your domain, as long as you set your API key on the server side.
Do I own the code the AI wrote?
Check each tool’s terms. v0’s FAQ, for example, says Vercel does not own the code generated from your prompts. Whether anyone holds copyright in AI output is a separate question, which our guide to who owns AI-generated content explains.
Will Google find my site after I publish it?
Yes, but not instantly. Google says crawling “can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.” Add the site to Google Search Console and submit a sitemap, if your host makes one, to help it along.
