AI motion graphics tools fall into five groups: code renderers that an AI coding agent writes for, design tools with AI built in, script-to-video platforms, generative video models, and agents that render motion inside a larger project. For exact text, logos and brand colors, choose a code renderer such as Remotion or a design tool such as Jitter; for realistic footage, choose a video model such as Runway.
This page compares eleven tools on the same fields, with prices checked on September 28, 2026. One of them is the /motion skill in Cyborb, a desktop AI agent from Orbioom; Cyborb is our product. If you want a step-by-step build rather than a comparison, our guide to motion graphics with AI walks from a brief to a finished file.
- Code renderers (Remotion, Motion Canvas, Manim) turn code an AI agent writes into video, so text, colors and timing stay exact.
- Design tools add AI to a timeline you control: Jitter drafts editable animations, Canva animates whole designs, and After Effects uses AI for masking and tracking.
- Synthesia, Vyond and MotionVid.ai turn a script or prompt into explainer-style video. Runway generates footage as pixels.
- Six of the eleven have a free option, and two more have free trials. Paid plans for one person run from $144 to $699 a year, billed yearly.
- Mix them: footage from a video model, titles and captions from code or a design tool, then edit.
What AI tool makes motion graphics from text?
Several can, and they differ in what the AI actually makes: code, an editable animation, a finished video, or pixels. That difference decides how easily you can fix one word later.
Code renderers. A coding agent such as Claude Code or Codex writes the animation as code, and a renderer records it as video. Remotion uses React, Motion Canvas uses TypeScript and Manim uses Python.
Design tools with AI. You work on a normal timeline, and AI drafts, suggests or automates parts of it. Jitter, Canva and After Effects sit here.
Script-to-video platforms. You give a script, a document or a prompt, and the platform assembles a finished explainer from templates, voices and avatars. Synthesia, Vyond and MotionVid.ai sit here.
Generative video models. A model such as Runway’s Gen-4.5 paints every frame from your prompt. It excels at mood and realism, and it is less reliable with exact text. Our AI video generator comparison covers this group in depth.
Agents that render inside a project. Cyborb, our product, has a /motion skill that renders short motion graphics from a prompt in the same flow as the rest of your work.
AI motion graphics tools compared
Every tool below takes a description in plain words; what comes back differs. Checked on September 28, 2026; each row links its source.
| Tool | Type | What the AI does | What you get | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remotion | Code renderer (React) | Your coding agent writes the video as code; you preview it in a browser | MP4, ProRes or image frames | Remotion |
| Motion Canvas | Code renderer (TypeScript, MIT license) | Your coding agent writes the scenes; an editor shows a live preview | Image frames (PNG, JPEG or WebP) to turn into video | Motion Canvas |
| Manim | Code renderer (Python, MIT license) | Your coding agent writes the scenes; built for math and diagrams | MP4 | Manim |
| Jitter | Design tool in the browser | Generates editable animations, effects and variations from a description; turns images into video on Pro | Video, GIF or Lottie; 720p free, 1080p on Pro, 4K on Max | Jitter |
| Canva | Design tool in the browser | Magic Animate picks an animation style and applies it to a whole design | Animated presentations, social posts and videos | Canva |
| After Effects | Professional desktop app | AI-powered Object Matte selects, isolates and tracks subjects; you animate by hand | Anything After Effects renders | Adobe |
| Synthesia | AI video platform | Builds a motion graphic from a plain-English description or one of 16 templates, in your brand colors and fonts | MP4, or a scene inside a Synthesia video | Synthesia |
| Vyond | Animated explainer platform | Turns text, a document, a script or a web page into a video, with AI avatars | Animated explainer video | Vyond |
| MotionVid.ai | Prompt-to-motion app | Turns a prompt into template-based motion graphics with narration and music | Video, up to 1080p on Starter | MotionVid.ai |
| Runway | Generative video models | Generates clips from text or images with Gen-4.5 and other models | Video clips, painted as pixels | Runway |
| Cyborb /motion (ours) | Skill in a desktop AI agent | Renders short motion graphics from a prompt, in the same flow as the rest of your project | Rendered motion graphics saved into your project | Cyborb |
For animation that plays inside an app or website rather than as a video file, look at Rive or the Lottie format instead. Our how-to guide explains Lottie.
How much do AI motion graphics tools cost?
Six of the eleven have a free option, two more have free trials, and paid plans for one person cost $144 to $699 a year when billed yearly. The code renderers are free for individuals, but the coding agent that writes the code usually needs its own paid plan.
We worked out the yearly figures from each pricing page. Checked on September 28, 2026, in US dollars before tax:
| Tool | Free option | Cheapest paid plan | One person for a year | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Remotion | Free for individuals and companies of up to 3 people, commercial use included | Company License: $25 per seat a month, for companies of 4 or more | $0, or $300 per seat | Remotion |
| Motion Canvas | Free and open source | None | $0 | GitHub |
| Manim | Free and open source | None | $0 | GitHub |
| Jitter | 720p export with a watermark and limited AI credits | Pro: $15 a month billed yearly, or $19 monthly | $180 | Jitter |
| Canva | Free plan, but Magic Animate needs a paid plan | Pro: $144 a year | $144 | Canva |
| After Effects | 7-day free trial | $22.99 a month on a yearly plan, with 25 generative credits a month | $275.88 | Adobe |
| Synthesia | Basic: free, with 10 minutes of video a month | Starter: $18 a month billed yearly, or $29 monthly | $216 | Synthesia |
| Vyond | Free trial | Starter: $699 billed yearly, or $99 monthly | $699 | Vyond |
| MotionVid.ai | None | Starter: $19 a month, with 60 exports | $228 billed monthly | MotionVid.ai |
| Runway | 125 one-time credits | Standard: $12 a month billed yearly, or $15 monthly, with 625 credits a month | $144 | Runway |
| Cyborb /motion (ours) | Not on the Free plan | Pro: $18 a month billed yearly, or $20 monthly; also on Max | $216 | Cyborb |
Credits and usage limits differ by tool, so a cheaper plan is not always cheaper per finished video. Run one real project on a free option before you pay for a year.
How do Remotion, After Effects, Jitter and Runway compare?
They solve different problems. Remotion renders code that an agent writes, After Effects is a hands-on professional tool whose AI helps with masking, Jitter’s AI drafts editable animations in the browser, and Runway generates footage as pixels. This is our reading of each tool’s documentation:
| Remotion | After Effects | Jitter | Runway | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What the AI does | Your coding agent writes the animation code | Selects and tracks subjects | Drafts editable animations from a description | Generates every frame |
| Exact text and logos | Yes, set in code from your files | Yes, placed by you | Yes, as editable layers | Can drift or blur |
| Changing one detail | Edit a value and render again | Edit the keyframe | Edit the layer, or ask the AI | Generate again |
| Skill you need | Reading code helps | Real practice for complex work | A designer’s eye | Good prompts |
| Best for | Templates, data videos, product demos, series | Compositing and effects work | Social posts, logo and interface animations | Backgrounds, b-roll, mood |
A common pattern is to use two of them together: Runway for a moving background, and Remotion or Jitter for the titles on top.
Can AI make animated explainer videos?
Yes. Vyond and Synthesia turn a script, a document or a prompt into an animated video, and a coding agent can build a custom explainer in Remotion or Manim when you need exact control.
Vyond includes text, document, script and web page to video from its Starter plan, plus AI avatars.
Synthesia focuses on presenter videos with AI avatars, and its motion graphics generator adds timelines, funnels, checklists and charts that you edit as text.
Manim suits math and science explainers, where equations and graphs must be exactly right.
Remotion suits explainers built from real data or real product screens, because the code can load the numbers and images directly.
Whichever route you take, write the script first and check every claim on screen. For the narration, our guide to AI voiceovers covers natural-sounding delivery and the consent rules for cloned voices.
A workflow that uses several tools
Write a timed brief
Name the format, the length, the palette and the beats in order, with seconds. Our how-to guide has a brief you can copy.
Split the video by what must be exact
Text, logos, prices and charts go to a code renderer or a design tool. Atmosphere, textures and realistic scenes can go to a video model.
Build the exact parts
Have a coding agent write Remotion scenes, draft them in Jitter, or, if you already work in Cyborb, render them with /motion inside the same project.
Assemble and caption
Put the pieces together in a video editor, add captions and clean up the audio. Our guide to AI video editing covers each step.
Export a master, then the extras
Render a high-quality master first, then the social cuts. A matching YouTube thumbnail finishes the job.
FAQ
Can I make motion graphics with AI for free?
Yes, with limits. Remotion is free for individuals and companies of up to 3 people, and Motion Canvas and Manim are free and open source, though the coding agent usually costs money. Jitter’s free plan exports 720p with a watermark, Synthesia’s generator works on its free plan, and Runway gives 125 one-time credits.
Does After Effects have AI features?
Yes, mostly as help rather than generation. AI-powered Object Matte, added in April 2026, selects, isolates and tracks subjects with one click, and the After Effects plan includes 25 generative credits a month. You still build the animation yourself.
Which tool should I use for YouTube intros and lower thirds?
For a one-off, a design tool such as Jitter or Canva is quickest. For a channel with many videos in the same style, a code template in Remotion pays off, because each new title is new text rather than new work.
Can I use AI motion graphics commercially?
It depends on each tool’s license and plan. Remotion’s free license includes commercial use for individuals and small companies. For every other tool, read the terms of the plan you are on, and read our video generator guide for the legal limits on likeness and characters.
Is Cyborb’s /motion skill free?
No. It is included on Cyborb’s Pro plan, at $20 a month or $18 billed yearly, and on Max. It is not part of the Free plan.
- Pick the route by what must stay exact: code and design tools for text and brands, video models for footage.
- Remotion, Motion Canvas and Manim cost nothing for individuals; the agent that writes the code usually does.
- After Effects’ AI helps with masks, not with generating animation.
- Synthesia and Vyond are the fastest way from a script to an explainer.
- Most finished videos combine two or three of these tools.
